A Parable of Peppers

Chapter Seven

Tall Cover No Text_edited.jpg

And it’s like they suck the life out of me. But what can I do? A motherless child? We have to all pitch in, don’t we? But why do I end up doing all the work while everyone else only has fun and games? And some people… They think they’re being funny? Some things just aren’t. And some people are not as funny as they may think they are!

But she cries, you know. Stanley doesn’t see it. Some people only see what they want. She wouldn’t let Avram see her sob probably because she sensed he couldn’t take it. He couldn’t handle it. A big goofy man like that! I always stopped her when she’d smack or kick her dad, but part of me always wanted to pile on. Still do. And that’s it. That’s just it.
